About Malin Sjoberg
Malin Sjoberg is a photographer who was born and raised in Stockholm, Sweden.
Her black and white photographic work often deals with the theme of memory, identity and, and exile. The intangible, ambiguous and fleeting nature of lost memories is most recently explored in the series ‘Shadows’ which at times features fragments of a fleeting figure. It is these shadows from the past, whether in form of dreams and memories, that constitutes our identity, and that we eventually try and embrace; yet this glimpse from the past is not even recognized until it has passed us by. Malin’s work explores our frantic embraces of those fleeting moments, those shadows from the past.
The main influences on her work are Northern and Central European illustrations and fairytales that she read as a child.
Malin is currently enrolled in a one year mentored Professional Certificate Program at the Maine Photographic Workshop/ Rockport College.
